Auction rules
The short version of how our 24-hour timed auctions work. These rules form part of the buyer terms you accept when you register to bid.
- 0% commission
- VAT included
- The amount you bid is the amount you pay
1. Registration
Bidding is open to registered buyers only. Registration requires a valid ID or passport, proof of address and, for companies, registration and VAT documents.
Sell My Truck may approve, decline or suspend any registration at its discretion.
2. How a lot runs
Every lot is a unit Sell My Truck owns outright. We do not auction vehicles on behalf of other sellers.
Each lot runs as a timed online auction, normally for 24 hours from the published opening time.
Bidding opens at the published opening bid and advances in the published increment.
You bid by entering a maximum. The system bids on your behalf, one increment at a time, only as high as it needs to go to keep you in the lead, and never above your maximum.
3. Anti-sniping
Any bid placed in the final two minutes extends the closing time of that lot by a further two minutes.
Extensions repeat for as long as bidding continues, so the last genuine bidder always has a chance to respond.
4. Reserve
Every lot carries a confidential reserve. The reserve amount is never published, but the lot shows whether the reserve has been met.
If the reserve is met, the highest bid at close is a binding sale.
If the reserve is not met, the unit does not sell on auction and returns to our normal stock at its retail price.
5. Payment and collection
Sell My Truck charges no buyer’s commission, and auction prices include VAT. The amount you bid is the amount you pay. If a lot is ever offered on different terms, that lot’s page says so plainly before you bid.
The successful bidder must pay the winning bid within 48 hours of the lot closing, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Ownership passes on receipt of cleared funds. Collection is by arrangement from our Muldersdrift premises.
6. Condition of sale
All units are sold voetstoots (as is, where is). Descriptions, mileages and hour readings are given in good faith but are not guaranteed.
Buyers are strongly encouraged to inspect a unit, or have it inspected, before the lot closes. Inspection is by appointment.
7. General
Sell My Truck may withdraw any lot before it closes, and may reject any bid.

This page is a plain-language summary. Our full website and auction terms apply to every sale, and take precedence if the two ever differ.
